Registering on forum with American English results in error

Post by mdil »

When I selected "American English" as the language, the number/letter verification partially disappeared (could not scroll down to it) and I had to select "British English" for the page to work properly.

Mdil, very sorry for your troubles. Can you explain a couple of things for me so I can pin this down...

What do you mean by number/letter verification?
And what's your browser and machine type?

Thanks, and we'll get this sorted for you asap.

I had the same experience. I finally figured out that if I select American English at any point the registration page is 'sqished down'. The fields for name and email and such overlap. The image for verification only shows a narrow strip from the top of the image. Everything revert to normal if British English is selected.

MisterMc, can I ask you what the browser and OS are? And I'm afraid I don't understand what the registration page is... Registration for what? What verification image? You may be seeing something of which I am completely unaware, and I clearly need to find what it is asap.

Should have said, YouMeScript never asks for your name, and the only place you can enter an email is after an error or to give feedback.

So I am seriously confused here...

Right, we're talking registration for this forum, gottit. Sorry, I'm a bit slow, on my good days.

I'll take a look.

Just catching up on the forum. I see you have figured out this is registering for the forum. I am using Chrome. I don't know if it would be any different on another browser since I am already registered. I suppose I or someone could try registering using a different username to see if the behavior is different in another browser. I think that perhaps the easiest solution may be to eliminate the option and just default everyone to British English.

Yeah... the inner workings of this forum are a source of slow intrigue and predictable surprise worthy of 60's noir directors.

I'm pretty sure I've solved this, and what a joy it was, doing so... a strange problem with timezones by language.

Moving to fixed.
