How do I make the Saving Screen go away?

Hi! I am having an issue. My file has said, "Please wait while the new file is uploaded to Google Drive" for almost two hours. I am now worried that it will never upload and that I've lost this file forever. Is there any way to go back to before I tried to save so that I can copy/paste the stuff in the file elsewhere? Can I make the saving page go away? I don't see a cancel button or a back arrow. If I had realized that saving would have made it impossible to go back I would have copy/pasted beforehand.
